Youth Center of Marttinen has hosted EVS workers for several years. At the moment we don’t have an EVS volunteer in Marttinen.
The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a European Union programme. Young people aged between 18 and 25 who live in an EU country can spend six to twelve months abroad working in a project in the country of their choice. For example: Work with children, environmental protection projects, culture centres, work with disabled people and much more. Social background, nationality and levels of education are not significant.
The most important requirement for a stay abroad is the partnership between a sending organisation (in the home country), and the partner organisation abroad, which is the hosting project. The sending organisation is responsible for preparing the volunteer for his time abroad, and to support the volunteer on his return. The hosting organisation in the foreign country looks after food, lodgings and personal support during the stay.
